Companies are under more pressure to understand the environmental impacts of their work, especially in identifying their contributions to greenhouse gas emissions through Scope 1, Scope 2, and now Scope 3 emissions calculations. However, most small to medium-sized businesses cannot provide this information to their customers, particularly the knowledge of how to set up the systems to track emissions contributions and how to report to their clients as part of their emissions reporting.

Brightworks Sustainability is pleased to partner with USGBC-LA to present this one-of-a-kind workshop for small businesses looking to learn more and demonstrate leadership with both carbon accounting and ESG reporting. Our experts will walk you through what these voluntary frameworks are, and how to analyze your business operations to not only report to them but make improvements that will serve people, the planet, and profit. This workshop positions and prepares local businesses (commercial, industrial, and contractors) to understand their emissions and to compete for contracts in a shifting marketplace that will require them to provide this information. Awareness of their emissions and the need to compete in reducing these emissions will drive down energy and materials use over time throughout the region.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) encompass a broad category of topics with wide implications for how companies and industries manage and disclose these topics. Many teams grapple with the issues of when to start, where to start, what to prioritize, and how to justify the work involved. This workshop will prepare these businesses to answer these questions and provide them with the tools to do baseline assessments and report the supply chain to their customers and agencies.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion from USGBC-LA upon receipt of a 10-question exam and will track certificates for future reference. This session is valid for 2 GBCI CEU credits.
