This session will look at recent planning efforts in the LA River and Santa Ana watersheds and strategies for adaptation and resilience in Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside County.
The Los Angeles River Master Plan case study will give an overview of the plan framework, coordination process, and community engagement. The technical data developed in collaboration with engineers, scientists, and government agencies informed potential approaches via a kit of parts toolkit, and design guidelines helped set standards for future built work along the LA River. The Sepulveda Basin Vision Plan case study will give an overview of the Vision Planning process, objectives, and goals, as well as the technical data and community equity driven approach; highlighting how the plan leverages local, state, and federal initiatives for climate positive design to bring investment in nature based solutions for the San Fernando Valley.
The next phase of the OC Riverwalk is a public private partnership that will transform Orange County.
The River District will be an environmentally and fiscally sustainable public realm that will put the river back in Riverside.
